can a travel journalist travels and not write? or an office lady reports and knocks off from work as and when she likes?

i'm done with school; done with my grad trip(S) - both of them; now i'm finally unemployed, jobless, penniless. it strikes me that i have problems deciding on a career path precisely because i don't read enough. oh lord, let's get started.
