5th May - Jerantut
we reached jerantut at about 2, 3 am in the morning. most of us were zonked out when we reached the hostel.
early morning we discovered that the place was almost out of water (not completely if you consider the "leaking" tap a water source). so the dirty us didnt bathe.
while waiting for the boat ride to taman negara,
here's the boat that pulled some 27 of us. 2 to 3 hours of ride, at more than 30km/h. do your math and you know how big taman negara is.
most of them slept, after an hour into the ride.
there was a bit of time to rest and settle before we set out for the Gua Telinga exploration.
and hello, it isnt at all a lime cave with snails. we all thought, ok, great we are going into cave walk the constructed steps and scare the snails.
but guess what. Gua Telinga is a bats' cave (you know how much i dislike batman for no reason) full of bats, bat shit. it's wet, and completely dark. we had to move around with our 4 limbs (there was so much climbing to do and the cave's really slippery), and do leopard crawl.
we were saying it's so dangerous inside that if you miss your footing, you probably fall and hit yourself unconscious.
next time if you have the chance to go on a adventure like that, dont wear jeans. you really have to lift your legs to reach every climbable stone.
this is what i mean. torn jeans. look at how dirty we got.
but the amazing thing is all 27 of us survived the raid. fat, short, skinny, tall. size doesnt matter.
and i have to say, i'm really proud of myself. when my pants tore i really felt so much like crying.
i knew i had to finish the raid. i was stuck in the middle what.
the darkness and the dirt didnt really get to me. i was, like most others, threatened by how slippery the rocks were. thank god we have 4 limbs. and individuals who shone the torches for us. all we had to do was to scream i cant see anything, and there was light.
we spent more than an hour in the cave. and it wasnt exactly huge. thats how challenging it was for us.
and that night we have our night jungle walk. we saw many different species of inserts, glow in the dark leaves and mushrooms. and got frightened by spiders that actually fake dead.
